about installation music soundtracks

private ceremony is an installation and listening room. it traces a line between my own distorted memories and the ways listening and recording technologies distort and obscure sound. a collection of musical scores written by me, are interpreted by a host of musicians, performers and the young collective Art Block (based at South London Gallery).

these recorded sounds are then arranged into a larger composition to be heard via an installation of live radio and custom built speakers that shake and convulse in response to sound. these listening devices give their own unique take on the sound that's played through them, evoking a ghost-like sense of presence in the room. zines containing the scores were avaiable to take from the gallery.
